“This Assam Bridge is More Than Just Steel — It’s a Symbol of Unity

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma visited Nalbari on August 14, 2025, where he inaugurated significant infrastructure projects, including the ₹69.47-crore Barkura Railway Overbridge designed to enhance connectivity in the region. The bridge is intended to reduce traffic congestion, improve road safety, and cut travel times for thousands of daily commuters, thereby boosting trade and economic activities in lower Assam.
Described by CM Sarma himself as “more than steel and concrete, this bridge is our future in motion, where connectivity reigns and people unite,” the project symbolizes progress, regional unity, and the ongoing efforts of the government to connect remote areas with economic hubs. In addition to this, the Chief Minister announced a massive development package for Nalbari, with multiple projects collectively worth over ₹5,760 crore, signaling a major push for the district’s growth and infrastructure development.
Himanta Biswa Sarma, a prominent political leader from Assam with family roots tracing back to Nalbari district, continues to emphasize the importance of infrastructure in bridging communities and driving the future of the state.
