Inaugurating Bhupen Hazarika’s Birth Centenary Celebrations:
- PM Modi will be the chief guest as Assam launches a year-long series of programmes in honour of Bhupen Hazarika, Bharat Ratna awardee and cultural legend.
- The Assam government will also release a biography of Hazarika and has proposed issuing a commemorative coin in his honour. The biography will be translated into Indian languages and distributed widely.
