A Visionary Step Towards Modern Aquaculture
The Aqua Tech Park, a pioneering initiative by the Assam government, integrates advanced fisheries technologies, research, and training to revolutionize the state’s blue economy. Key highlights include:
1.High-tech fish hatcheries – Enhancing seed production for sustainable farming.
2.Feed manufacturing & cold storage – Reducing waste and improving profitability.
3.Processing & packaging units – Adding value to fish products for domestic & export markets.
4.Skill development center – Training youth & farmers in modern aquaculture techniques1
CM’s Emphasis on Atmanirbharta & Youth Employment
During the inauguration, CM Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma highlighted how the park will:
🔹 Create jobs for local youth in fisheries and allied sectors.
🔹 Promote entrepreneurship through startups in fish farming, processing, and marketing.
🔹 Boost Assam’s economy by increasing fish production and exports.
“This Aqua Tech Park is not just about fish—it’s about empowering our youth, strengthening rural livelihoods, and making Assam a leader in sustainable aquaculture,” said the CM.
The Assam government plans to expand such tech parks across the state, further boosting the fisheries sector under the Atmanirbhar Assam mission.
With the Sonapur Aqua Tech Park, Assam has taken a giant leap towards modern, sustainable, and inclusive fisheries development. This initiative aligns with PM Modi’s vision of a Blue Revolution, ensuring that India’s aquaculture sector grows while empowering its youth.
